Kelly Yotebieng has received a Marianna Russell Technology Grant for support of her dissertation project, The city from urban refugee perspectives in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The overall goal of her research is to investigate how a growing population of urban refugees recursively rebuilds their lives and communities after conflict and displacement. This will be achieved through an exploratory research design including ethnographic and visual methods. The data generated will be analyzed inductively, identifying themes that organically emerge from the data to provide emic perspectives to resilience theory in the broader social, political, and ecological contexts of displaced persons in cities in the developing world.
