Jesse Goliath awarded the Diversity Committee's Poster Competition Award

Jesse Goliath (Co-Authors: James Gosman, Zachariah Hubbell, and Timothy Ryan), presented his poster "Epiphyseal versus Metaphyseal Trabecular Microarchitecture:  Regional Ontogenetic Patterns in the Human Proximal Tibia" at the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) Annual Meeting (Sept. 16-19) in Atlanta, GA.  The poster was awarded the Diversity Committee's Poster Competition Award in recognition of an exceptional poster presentation.  The poster focusses on developmental patterns of trabecular bone in the metaphyseal and epiphyseal regions of the proximal tibia. Trabeculae in the epiphyseal region are more directly influenced by mechanical forces than trabeculae in the metaphyseal region during growth. The differential response of trabecular bone to changing mechanical loads during growth and development serves as a powerful tool to evaluate the significance of mechanical loading on adult trabecular bone morphology in health, disease, and bone senescence.
