Congratulations to doctoral student Ryan Goeckner, for receiving a National Science Foundation Research Experience for Graduates grant! 

Responding to concerns related to mental health disparities in Lakota communities, his project, Contemporary Lakota Activism, Senses of Belonging, and Mental Health, will examine why Lakota people participate in activist rides, events in which groups of individuals ride horses to a culturally and historically significant location, and how participation generates senses of community and supports positive mental health outcomes.
