Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

"Tranquility is a Child with a Full Belly: Food Insecurity and Maternal Mental Health in Nicaragua"

by

Associate Professor
Department of Anthropology

How does food insecurity affect mother’s mental health? This presentation will analyze Nicaraguan mothers' strategies for coping with inadequate access to food, their daily routines and responsibilities, and definitions of an ideal and healthy diet. Through this, we will understand the way food insecurity undermines maternal mental health by disrupting their ability to fulfill the responsibilities of motherhood and, to a lesser extent, by serving as a reminder of social status.
