Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Feeding, Foraging, and the Phylogeny of Large African Monkeys

by W. Scott McGraw

Professor, OSU Department of Anthropology

This talk combines observations of wild primates in West Africa with with laboratory analyses of their bones and teeth to solve a mystery of primate genealogy.  We’ll examine new data on feeding ecology, dental structure, and musculo-skeletal anatomy from the world’s largest monkeys and use this information to demonstrate that family relationships are not necessarily what appears on the surface.
