To address the complex problems in the Anthropocene, such as climate change impacts, there is a need to rethink how science is done. Convergence research is one such approach that seeks to tear down disciplinary silos through creativity and innovation to co-create new frameworks. This talk will elaborate on an ongoing convergence research collaboration with the Colonias communities in the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands that reveal water injustices experienced by the Colonia residents and ultimately identify potential solutions. Sharing findings from our methodologically innovative project, the talk will expand on the opportunities that bridging participatory approaches and convergence research brings to support novelty, creativity, and more policy-relevant to the phenomenon studied.
