Matthew Biwer is an anthropological archaeologist and paleoethnobotanist. His research broadly focuses on foodways, colonialism, culture contact, agricultural production, and the articulation of food and politics in the ancient world. He is currently engaged in archaeological laboratory and field projects based in the Peruvian Andes, and has collaborated on research focused on the Eastern United States and Mexico.
