Doctoral candidate Steven Rhue presents at the EHPS conference in Portugal
On September 6th, doctoral candidate Steven Rhue presented his dissertation research at the European Health Psychology Society (EHPS) conference in Cascais, Portugal.
As part of the Early Career Researcher (ECR) Spotlight Talks, Steven’s presentation, (co-authored by Dr. Barbara Piperata and Dr. Mariana Inglez) “Children’s art, stories, and the realities of water in urban Brazil,” discussed how children (aged 5 – 10) living in impoverished, water insecure neighborhoods of Belém, Pará, Brazil, experienced and perceived the water in their everyday lives. The research used visual methods (drawings) and conversational interviews to explore how children used and interacted with household water throughout their daily routines. Steven’s research adds to a very limited, but critical, body of work which directly assess how children, themselves experience and perceive resource insecurities.
Steven’s doctoral research is funded by the National Science Foundation (BCS-2215227).
