New Article on FoodAnthropology!
Once again, we are thrilled to highlight a new article written by PhD candidate Andrew Mitchel for FoodAntrhopology's blog!
In "Traditional Foods Forum: A Day of Indigenous Knowledge at the Society for Applied Anthropology Meeting" Andrew highlights the 2025 Society for Applied Anthropology Annual Meeting's Traditional Food Forum, where indigenous elders, community actors, and academics shared insights on the interplay between people, place, climate, and food. Key presentations included Eric Quaempts discussing the significance of reciprocity and first foods in his community, and Suquamish elder Ed Carriere demonstrating traditional basket weaving techniques using local plants. The forum emphasized the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge and natural resources in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
Congratulations on the blog post and covering such an important topic Andrew!
