Dr. Angela Harden and Dr. Amanda Agnew of the Injury Biomechanics Research Center (IBRC) have received a National Institute of Justice grant which will serve to continue their skeletal trauma research for three additional years! Entitled Quantitative Assessment of Fracture Characteristics in Blunt Force Skeletal Trauma for Forensic Interpretations, this research will provide forensic anthropological researchers with empirical data that incorporate the role of intrinsic and extrinsic variables to support valid fracture interpretations in the medico-legal community. The objective is to conduct experimental skeletal trauma research to establish relationships between fracture characteristics and tissue quality and distribution, loading rates and failure mechanisms, and disseminate these data to researchers, practitioners, and the medicolegal community. You can learn more about the grant here and more about the IBRC here!
