For the Wicked Science course in spring 2024, several students developed final projects in the format of a “zine” or DIY booklet to tell the story of a wicked problem using an eclectic mix of visual media and text.

The zines touched on a wide range of themes from LGBTQ+ healthcare and self-driving cars to mental health in professional baseball. One zine was even designed to help children understand the challenges of snow leopard conservation in Kyrgyzstan. These highly creative works illustrate both the value and importance of tackling wicked problems in formats that are accessible to diverse audiences.
